Marc Riley, PT DPT OCS SCS ATC CSCS FAAOMPT
Practice Location: Horseheads/Elmira
Marc Riley is co-founder of Elite Therapy with locations in Horseheads, NY and the original location in Mansfield, PA. Marc has spent his career working in environments that have allowed him to learn and grow professionally.
Marc earned his Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training/Exercise Science at Ithaca College in 1997. For four years following graduation he worked as an athletic trainer for a variety of teams and health systems. During that time he became certified as a strength and conditioning specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
In 2001, Marc went back to graduate school at Gannon University, in Erie, to begin work toward his Masters of Physical Therapy. He graduated with distinction in December 2003. Following graduation, he was presented with a unique opportunity to learn and work at the Ear Institute of Texas, in San Antonio, with some of the best neuro-otologists in the country. During his year at the Ear Institute, he became very skilled at treating and managing vestibular/balance disorders. He has since gone on to work in several other orthopedic/sports clinics. In 2007, Marc earned his board certification as a specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. In 2016, Marc completed his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University, and in 2018, Marc became board certified as a specialist in Sports Physical Therapy, in addition to orthopedics.
In 2011, Marc completed a 2 year fellowship through the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists (AAOMPT), becoming part of a small group of physical therapists that are both board certified and fellowship trained. Based on his philosophy of patient care, Marc is continuously learning new concepts of treating movement disorders – he has trained in Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment through the McKenzie Institute, taken several courses in orthopedic and neuromuscular care through the Institute of Physical Art, practiced evaluative and treatment techniques through Functional Movement Systems, and is certified in Functional Dry Needling through Kinetacore. Marc is a member of the volunteer pool for the United States Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Staff, has served as a mentor through both the University of St. Augustine and Regis University's orthopedic manual physical therapy program, and has lectured regionally and nationally on a variety of topics.
His extensive experience makes him as skilled as any other professional in the region to achieve the best outcome possible. Marc currently lives in Elmira with his wife Alyssa and sons – Evan, Cameron, Owen, and Hayden.
